Be it by Beans, Bishops or Temples the lure of a trip to Blakney point is a key ingredient to a successful holiday in north Norfolk.

42 souls were packed like lemmings on our trip out of Morston to see a squadron of common seals basking in the sun with one enormous grey seal laying sideways flapping his flippers as if in a circus. Who is the voyeur? - this happy flipper slapping seal community or the adoring crowd - rapt with all.

All on a glorious summer evening.

Common Seal - Key Facts

Size between 4.5 - 6.25ft long.
Colour - They are variable in colour from pale - dark grey and tan - brown with small rings and blotches on their body that are unique to each individual.
Diet - fish, prefer  herring, cod, flatfish, sea bass, anchovy,, sand eels, gobies, hake & whiting.
Breeding - birthing occurs onshore between February & July Common Seals give birth to 1 pup after an 11 month gestation period.
Lifespan  - 25-35 years.
